NEW SINCE 2021

GULF DISENTANGLEMENT TEAM IN SHIPPAGAN

The Gulf Disentanglement Team  was created following the initiative of the Association of Acadian Professional Fishermen (APPCA),  with the collaboration of DFO and the Campobello Whale Rescue Team  which is well known for their marine mammal disentanglement interventions in the Bay of Fundy.

Our disentanglement team will be physically and strategically located in Shippagan. They will  perform whale rescue operations on North Atlantic right whales and other large marine mammal species  in training with the Campobello Whale Rescue Team throughout the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Our boat to carry out the interventions is currently under construction, delivery is scheduled for early spring 2021. We expect to be fully operational as soon as we receive our boat.

Congratulations to the Team and special thanks to our partners!

    In memory of Joe Howlett

July 10, 2017  Joe Howlett died after disentangling  North Atlantic right whale No. 4123.
